Geneva Watch Auction Week 2026: Four Houses, 18 Days, and the Lots That Matter

Patek Philippe Reference 1436 stainless steel split-seconds chronograph, Lot 95 at Phillips Geneva Watch Auction XXIV, November 2026. Estimate CHF 2–4 million.

Watch Auctions · Geneva Week 2026 Preview

TL;DR

Four houses descend on Geneva from 7–9 November 2026: Phillips (Hotel President Wilson), Sotheby’s (Mandarin Oriental), Christie’s (Four Seasons Hôtel des Bergues) and Antiquorum (Hôtel de la Paix). The headline lot is a 1945 Patek Philippe Ref. 1436 in stainless steel — one of roughly two known examples with original case and dial intact — at CHF 2–4 million (Phillips Lot 95). The 16-lot Pucci Papaleo Rolex chronograph collection is the sub-story. Viewing opens 4 November; all houses require pre-registration, apply now.

The October auction month — a Voutilainen record at Phillips New York, 100% sell-through in Paris, and the first full Antiquorum New York session in years — drew a line under the market’s autumn warm-up. Now the main event. In 18 days, Geneva becomes the single most important room in the watch world.

Phillips: The Headline Lots

Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo offers 221 watches across two live sessions. The centrepiece is Lot 95 — a 1945 Patek Philippe Ref. 1436 split-seconds chronograph in stainless steel, one of fewer than two known examples retaining both original case and dial. At CHF 2–4 million, it is the session’s anchor and the likeliest lot to set the week’s tone.

The second story is the Pucci Papaleo Collection — 16 Rolex chronographs offered largely unrestored, spanning the “Bariletto” Ref. 3525 of the 1930s, a Ref. 3335 in rose gold, the square-cased Ref. 3830, and a 14k gold Paul Newman “Lemon” Daytona. Sixteen lots in a single session tests whether concentrated collector focus drives premiums or spreads bidding thin — watch the early lots carefully as a gauge. Buyers considering long-term ownership should read our piece on what a Rolex really costs to own before committing to any auction reference.

Phillips Geneva Watch Auction XXIV: selected lots. Estimates CHF; buyer’s premium 27% up to CHF 1.6 million. Pre-sale figures, October 2026.

The Rolex Ref. 6062 “Stelline” (Lot 129) is newly surfaced from Japan and offered directly by its original owner — genuine first-time-to-market provenance. The Daytona “John Player Special” (Lot 20) carries a bracelet stamped “V.C.A.,” suggesting a Van Cleef & Arpels retail origin. The F.P. Journe Resonance “Régence” (Lot 7) is, according to Phillips, the only known example with a pink gold dial — a distinction that drove the Sotheby’s Hong Kong record earlier this year on comparable unique-piece Journe designations.

Sotheby’s: Lange Pocket Watch and the Daniels Millennium

Sotheby’s Important Watches (Sale GE2604) on 8 November leads with a circa 1914 A. Lange & Söhne hunting-cased pocket watch featuring perpetual calendar, quarter repeating, grande and petite sonnerie, and moon phases — unique and new to market, estimated CHF 500,000–1,000,000. George Daniels’ Millennium in yellow gold (Lot 80, 2001, CHF 300,000–600,000) offers significant upside: a white gold Millennium sold for CHF 2.18 million at Sotheby’s Geneva in 2023. The Zurich preview ran 12–16 October; the Geneva exhibition opens at the Mandarin Oriental on 5 November.

Christie’s: The Zidane Pasha and 21 ELA Lots

Christie’s closes the week on 9 November with Rare Watches Including Watches for ELA. The sentimental centrepiece is a stainless steel Cartier Pasha bought by Zinedine Zidane with his first professional salary at Bordeaux FC. No pre-sale estimate — a deliberate choice: Christie’s Geneva withholds estimates on sentiment-driven lots when the house expects bidding to open above any anchor it might set. Alongside it: a Patek Philippe Ref. 5270J perpetual calendar chronograph and work by F.P. Journe, A. Lange & Söhne, Sylvain Pinaud, and Charles Frodsham.

The 21-lot Watches for ELA charity section supports ELA International’s leukodystrophy research; the 2024 edition funded a €500,000 research grant. Brands contributing unique pieces include Alpina, Bovet, Boucheron, Montblanc, and Tissot.

Antiquorum: Three Lots Worth Tracking

The world’s first dedicated watch auction house returns to Geneva with 591 lots across three sessions at the Hôtel de la Paix on 7–8 November. After last weekend’s New York sale, momentum is building. Three lots stand out: an F.P. Journe Octa Calendrier (CHF 400,000–800,000), an F.P. Journe Octa Quantième Perpétuel (CHF 150,000–250,000), and a 1977 Rolex GMT-Master presented to Sheikh Rashid Bin Said Al Maktum with a custom “Quraysh Hawk” dial crest (CHF 200,000–400,000). Head-of-state provenance with documentation has delivered outsized results throughout 2026 — this GMT-Master is exactly the kind of lot where bidding history becomes irrelevant and personal significance drives the room.

How to Follow and Register

All four houses accept absentee and telephone bids; Phillips and Sotheby’s both support live online bidding. Paddle applications typically take 48–72 hours; phone-bid registrations for Phillips should be submitted by 4 November. Phillips’ public viewing runs 4–8 November at the Hôtel President Wilson (10 AM–7 PM Wed–Fri; 9 AM–7 PM Sat; 9 AM–1 PM Sun — no paddle required). If you are approaching the week as a buying opportunity rather than spectating, our Rolex buying guide covers what to verify before committing to any reference at auction prices.

What is Geneva Watch Auction Week 2026?

Geneva Watch Auction Week is the annual November gathering at which Phillips, Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and Antiquorum hold their autumn Geneva sales across three consecutive days. The 2026 edition runs 7–9 November at four hotels along or near the lakefront. It is the largest single concentration of collectable horology offered at auction each year, and hammer prices here tend to set secondary-market reference prices globally for the following six months.

How do I register to bid at Phillips Geneva Watch Auction XXIV?

Register via phillips.com. You will need government-issued identification and, for bids above CHF 50,000, a bank reference or proof of funds. Phillips recommends applying at least 72 hours before your target session. Phone bidding must be registered by 4 November. Live online bidding is available through Phillips’ own platform during both sessions on 7 and 8 November. The public preview at the Hôtel President Wilson (4–8 November) requires no registration.

What is the Pucci Papaleo Collection at Phillips Geneva 2026?

The Pucci Papaleo Collection is a private assemblage of 16 Rolex chronographs spanning the 1930s to the 1970s, offered largely unrestored. It traces the evolution of the Rolex chronograph from the “Bariletto” Ref. 3525 through the square-cased Ref. 3830 and into the Daytona era. Collections with coherent research provenance — original condition, documented ownership history, traceable examples — have consistently commanded premiums over isolated single-consignor lots at Phillips Geneva, because buyers can cross-reference watches within the same collection to validate originality.

What does the Patek Philippe Ref. 1436 stainless steel estimate tell us about the market?

At CHF 2–4 million, the Lot 95 estimate sits at the lower end of where comparable stainless steel Patek split-seconds chronographs have been anchored over the past two auction cycles — meaning Phillips and the consignor are signalling upside rather than overpromising. The global preview tour across six cities (Dubai, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Riyadh, London) was explicitly designed to activate the five to eight serious competing bidders who determine the final price on lots of this rarity. The outcome will read as a market signal for high-value vintage Patek complications for the next 12 months.

Why has Christie’s not published an estimate for the Zidane Cartier Pasha?

Christie’s Geneva typically withholds estimates on sentiment-driven lots when the expected opening bid is above any guide price the house could credibly set. Publishing a low estimate anchors bidders; publishing a high one risks the lot if the room is quiet. An unpublished estimate leaves the floor entirely to competing bidders’ enthusiasm. Sports and cultural provenance lots at Christie’s Geneva — pieces linked to named figures at a specific biographical moment — have a strong track record of exceeding comparable unsigned references by two to four times.
